Time lapse of the fires

Cool, but scary.

Western Union billboards

Pretty cool OOH advertising for Western Union touting their speed in transferring money from one place to another. The campaign won a Gold Outdoor Lion at 2012 Cannes International Festival of Creativity.

Interesting umbrellas

So, it’s finally been really rainy here in Denver. YES! The flora and fauna in the city are finally happy. Even more so, the fires have hopefully been contained because of the downpours, and this will make the people of Colorado happy.

We figured all this rain meant folks had to dust off their umbrellas. And if you don’t own one, well maybe you can find one you like here. We stumbled upon a fun gallery of unique umbrellas, so check ’em out and get yourself a sweet rain deflector.

Dubstep dispute

“Dubstep Dispute” by Longmont, Colorado based Jason Giles, was primarily created using Luxology’s 3d solution, modo. This included modeling, surfacing, rigging, animation, rendering, and effects such as physics and volumetric lighting. Rigging the characters and environment was not overly complex but there was a fair amount of channel linking to keep all of the lights, material luminence and robot animations in sync with the music track.”

He’s also a good guy to drink a moscow mule with, fyi.

The Goodwill effect

Every trip we took to Goodwill we were unearthing shopping gold.  It was amazing. And, we were really dumbfounded by the quality of stuff we found, and even more so, the prices (how about a like-new telescope for only $20, anyone?). When we went to Goodwill’s Deja Blue boutique we were consistently discovering cool designer clothes, in basically brand new condition, priced so low we almost didn’t believe it. Designer jeans for $6? Who does that? We were shocked by it all. It was ridiculous. And even somewhat disturbing that people were out there paying full prices for things in just slightly less used condition. And right there, the idea for this campaign began to hatch. We had to let everyone else know.

Grab health by the nuts

Been seeing these around town, and kudos to whoever sold this line through to Kind. (Apologies for the janky photo quality)

Oragami shadow art

What first appears to just be an arrangement of colored construction paper is actually an amazing art piece by famed shadow artist Kumi Yamashita, and it was commissioned by American Express to create a unique work of art for their Tribeca, New York office. Kumi came to their office and actually created the profiles of employees right there on the spot. It’s a cool piece that you will unfortunately never get to see, as building security only allows for employees and folks doing business with American Express to enter.

Miller Boom Box

Really cool packaging for Miller Genuine Draft beer, in Istanbul, Turkey. Apparently in Turkey, Miller is closely linked with music and has been discovering musical talent as well as producing a large music festival for years, so this Boom Box design makes good sense. And it’s cool looking, too!

Meat without drugs.

Big ups to Chipotle for having this on their Youtube page. The concept of removing antibiotics from meat is something we at Sukle support whole-heartedly, and we love to see it manifesting itself into really neat animated videos.

Cool animation about overfishing

This was done, apparently, in Cinema 4D and we think the art direction is really nice. And it’s got a great message.

From the vimeo page:

Despite an increased awareness of overfishing, the majority of people still know very little about the scale of the destruction being wrought on the oceans. This film presents an unquestionable case for why overfishing needs to end and shows that there is still an opportunity for change. Through reform of the EU‘s Common Fisheries Policy, fisheries ministers and members of the European Parliament can end overfishing. But only if you pressure them.
