World Water Week

World Water Week is now! (March 20 – 26) And you can help just by going out to eat. Click here and find a restaurant that is participating in the Tap Project. Just pay $1 for the tap water you’d normally get for free. And just like that, you’re helping UNICEF provide lifesaving water and sanitation to kids around the world. I bet you didn’t know you were so powerful.

Help Japan, wear a cool shirt

Sweet design from Joshua Smith of Hydro74 to benefit those who need help in Japan. 100% of the proceeds of the sales of this shirt will go toward The Salvation Army USA and their efforts to provide relief to the many Japanese who could use it.

The shirts can be purchased here.

Sunken Treasure

Neato guerilla execution here. Treasure on the bottom of the pool with the line “Discover Asia’s sunken past.” This was done for The ArtScience Museum in Marina Bay Sands, Singapore, which is using underwater posters and weathered masts to promote the exhibition, Shipwrecked: Tang Treasures and Monsoon Winds.

Panyee Football Club

A cool, feel-good video about a small village in Thailand. The kids had nowhere to play soccer, so they built a floating field and ended up being really good, and nicely portrayed the idea: whatever challenges in life you face, if you think you can make a difference, you can.

Pixel oven mitts

Pretty sure these pixel oven mitts are the coolest mitts I’ve seen in a while.

This will first be preempted by saying Ricola’s are a fantastic product. Quite enjoyed by Sukleites. But wow, this commercial just has us scratching our heads. Huh?

Ha. I mean ouch.

While this wasn’t intended for humor, some (myself) might have chuckled at first when reading this. But, this was actually a spot done for The Paw Project, an organization focused on educating the public about the painful and crippling effects of cat declawing, campaigning for the abolition of declaw surgery, and rehabilitating big cats that have been declawed.

Still, it’s funny, right?

Yay. Best of 2010 is finally here!

Last year’s “best of” at Letter Cult was really radical. This years is ever more radical-er. Go check it out, there’s two posts (post 1, post 2). So much amazing typography.

Always like to see a new place/media to put swell ambient ideas. Nice work, Proximity Canada/BBDO Toronto.

Real people talking to real people.

We were pleased to see some press starting to float around in Wyoming about these TV spots we made for them, hoping to aid in their quest for smoking cessation. The whole point was to have real Wyoming folks talking to people they love, pleading them to stop smoking. In a state where no one wants to be told what to do by authority, we felt the only way to reach them was through their family and peers. To us, this is more than just advertising, it’s an attempt to shift behavior with reality. And we’re glad it’s starting to be noticed by Wyomingites.

Here’s the article from the Gillette News Recordwe were made aware of today.
